Born in 1980 in Istanbul, Kağan Yıldız started his first music lessons with his uncle, Orhan Akıncı, who was a music teacher. After he was admitted to contrabass department of State Conservatory of Mimar Sinan University in 1991, he continued his study with Asst. Prof. Engin Babahan. Yıldız, who was a member of Istanbul State Symphony Orchestrate during his student years, decided to continue his work in jazz music after his graduation in 2002 and shared the same stage with leading figures of Turkey. The musician, who started to play with Kerem Görsev Trio in 2006, has performed in many festivals both in Turkey and abroad. He also had an opportunity to play with Benny Golson, Freddy Cole, Dena De Rose, Kevin Mahagany, Jim Rotondi, John D’earth, Dave Samuels, and Alain Mallet (Caribbean Jazz Project) on the same stage in Istanbul. His album, titled Timeless, which is a duo project with Can Çankaya, the pianist, and which was recorded in 2017, is introduced to the market in 2018. Beside his concerts, Kağan Yıldız is also giving doublebass lessons in Jazz department of Bahçeşehir University and Istanbul University State Conservatory.
